In the beginning...

There was a boy who loved a girl and a girl who loved a boy. One of the happiest days of my life was when I married him.

He stopped my heart on our wedding day when he surprised me with a song he had written "Here's to forever". I still remember looking at him and thinking this
is forever and I am the luckiest. I never knew that day, I could possibly grow to love him even more. He has been one of my greatest supports and inspirations. Our wedding day began not only a wonderful journey but led to the creation of Amorology:

Everyday he makes me want to get married to him over and over again and in a sense I get to! With each new couple I am blessed with the opportunity to work with, I am reminded of the miracle of love and how it can change everything about the way you view your life. My job allows me to share in one of the most intimate days of other's lives...for which I am more fortunate than I can even begin to express. Here's to my beautiful brides and grooms and my amazing vendors! You continue to inspire me! ....and here is to forever with the man who allows me to do what I love! I love you.

Many thanks to the very talented Justin Hackworth who captured every detail of our wedding. I still look back at the photos and am filled with the same emotions I felt that day. A good photographer is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself as you celebrate your marriage!

Fabulous Purples

The Spanish countryside in spring seems to start with yellows, mimosa trees everywhere bursting into colour and iberian buttercups springing up.

This is followed by an explosion of purples - agapanthus, jacaranda trees and the native bouganvilla. Take a drive through the main street of Marbella and you would be amazed at the riot of purple trees and flowers and the streets covered in a natural lilac confetti from the jacaranda trees.

Here I have created two purple boards, the first one is a more romantic mood using lilacs, roses, freesia and pale lilac tones and the second is a more contemporary darker one. I love the colour purple mixed with lime greens or orange.

The Spanish Santa Semana processions get underway this week, they are very spectacular processions and can be quite frightening, I remember watching them as a small child and being scared of the hooded men! Here is something I prefer about Easter, albeit not the real meaning, all the lovely decorations available and of course chocolate:)

A wonderful spring theme for weddings with the pastel colours and of course an excuse to use marshmallows in your decorations or as favours :)

Spanish Jasmine Wedding theme

Continuing on from the Biznagas I have created a Spanish Jasmine inspiration board.

There are many restaurants here in Marbella, particuarly the old town of Marbella where you can dine under some glorious jasmine all lit up at night with fairy lights, it is truly magical and one of my favourite flowers here in Spain.

Biznagas in Malaga for weddings

Images from www.biznagas.com
The biznaga is a symbol associated with Malaga, Andalucia. It is made by taking the separate flower heads off jasmine plants in placing them onto a natural spike head.
Thanks to the legacy of the Arabs, and the mild climate, jasmine is abundant in Southern Spain and it is rare that a house with a garden, courtyard, or a balcony, does not have jasmine to decorate and perfume the surroundings.
Wedding shops in Malaga and southern Spain sell biznaga gifts for the wedding guests http://www.joyeriahago.com/
and many brides give them as a souvenir of the wedding.

When the guests arrive at the wedding, the biznaguero gives one biznaga to each lady
as a reception detail and you can imagine, dining in the open air on a hot spanish night with the smell of jasmine is an amazing experience.

Using colour in weddings - Los Monteros

Here are some images taken at Los Monteros, La Cabane Beach Club, to show how using colour can quickly transform a wedding table. By adding in small details such as tying napkins with ribbons, placing small votives on the tables with decorated boxes and candles the table are quickly turned into something much more appealing.

Wedding themes

Spanish

Beach

Tropical

Crystal

I am currently working up some wedding themes, Beach, Spanish, Crystal and Tropical.
The idea is to put together 'wedding packages' for brides in Spain, based on the Preston Bailey themes for Sandals.
I hate the description of packages though so if anyone can think of a better word please let me know!
Here is my starting block with different bridal bouquets to depict the different themes, I will use this base to continue the themes through to table settings, cakes, and venue decorations.
Any inputs or ideas will be very welcome!

Outside the box!

Outside the box!
I love this expression of thinking of different ways of changing the norm.
I found these images and unfortunately did not take note of the website, but what a fabulous idea of placing the flowers under the glass.
Such a simple idea and yet so different and I love the crystal glasses and candlesticks placed on the table, it really sets the whole scene.
