There are 5 suites, all charming. Our pick was the Library Suite which comes with a separate sitting room/library and dining/kitchen nook overlooking the gardens. There are nearby river walks, croquet, tennis, boules and an endless supply of books, dvds and magazines to indulge in. The Red Feather Inn also hosts a cooking school in separate building - perfect for groups or couples. Chef Lee Christmas prides himself on the use of fresh produce where possible from the properties vegetable garden complimented with local Tasmanian wines.
We have long believed that the produce in Tasmania is the best in the world and dining experiences just 10minutes drive away in Launceston including Black Cow on this trip did not fail to disappoint. Their sister restaurant Stillwater has also been a long time favourite. A trip to the Rivers Edge Cafe in Longford on the Esk River is a must for lunch and who could ever forget the delights from the Wursthaus for the most yummy cheese, meats, antipasto and deli treats you can find (located in both Launceston & Hobart). Historic Houses, long country drives, wine tasting on the Tamar River...we could have stayed for a week...Tasmania, a slice of heaven. We will be back to visit more often, promise x
